where digital formation is already happening.
Darkness is racing
toward our most
vulnerable.
Why aren’t we?
A field guide to digital formation — and the search for the ones being pulled under
A field guide for parents, leaders, and ministries — it discusses sexual exploitation, self-harm, and suicide as they affect young people.
If you or someone you know needs help, TheHopeLine offers free, confidential 24/7 crisis chat that connects you to real help; in immediate danger, call your local emergency number (911 in the US).
More crisis lines
In the US: the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline — call or text 988; the National Human Trafficking Hotline — call 1-888-373-7888 or text 233733. Outside the US, find a local crisis line.
Field record
This exists.
THEY CALL IT 764.
A decentralized, transnational online abuse network of predators and violent extremists targets vulnerable minors — turning escalating harm into status, leverage, and social currency.
SEXUAL EXPLOITATION · SELF-HARM · ANIMAL CRUELTY · SUICIDE
This is not some distant dark-web abstraction.
How could it get this bad?
Field record
One kid.
Before the 764 network became global, Bradley was a kid being formed by many forces at once.

Creates 764
Deep in gore communities, at fifteen he starts a server and names it 764.
WHERE COULD HIS COURSE HAVE CHANGED?
Field record
It outgrew him.
He was arrested and sentenced to eighty years. He was removed.
764 — the child-exploitation network he started — was not.
764 persisted and splintered into copycat offshoots. The FBI’s 2025 public warning cited a sharp increase, with investigations reaching all 56 field offices and hundreds of subjects nationwide. Children remain the targets.
THE FOUNDER WAS REMOVED. THE NETWORK KEPT FORMING.
Field model
764 is the extreme.
THE MECHANISM ISN’T.
People enter communities carrying norms. They absorb language, status, belonging, and behavior — then can carry that formation somewhere else.
Now widen the field — the same mechanism runs far beyond 764.
Field model
Formation doesn’t wait for ministry.
No curriculum has to be assigned. People are shaped, all the time, by peers, games, creators, music, memes, algorithms, pornography, suffering, relationships, and truth.
Every intentional ministry encounter enters a formation field already in motion.
Field model
It doesn’t look dangerous.
The outer edge looks ordinary — a joke, a meme, an invite, a dare, a new friend.
Most pass by. Some get pulled closer.
Nothing at the edge looks like a trap.
Field model
The pull gets stronger.
Deception invites agreement. Agreement becomes action. Action, repeated, becomes reinforcement.
As the pattern deepens, the next choice can feel less free.
A lie gains power when we begin living as though it were true.
Who can escape?
Field model
A lifeline can interrupt the pull.
A friend. A parent. A mentor. A truth encountered at the right time. A resource. A conversation.
A lifeline doesn’t have to complete the rescue to interrupt the fall.
What if no one is there?
The pull doesn’t wait for an appointment.
Field model
Darkness has better distribution.
When no one is there, the pull still is.
Negative, high-arousal, transgressive material enjoys a distribution advantage — cheap, ambient, always at hand.
DARK FORMATION DOESN’T WAIT TO BE INVITED.
Not because darkness is spiritually stronger.
Don’t lose hope.
This is exactly where light is meant to go.
Field model
Light has distribution too.
Truth. Grace. Testimony. Songs. Creators. Healthy communities. Relationships. The same network can carry these.
FORMED PEOPLE FORM PEOPLE.
Synthesis
Scattered doesn’t mean absent.
The Body is already in the field — parents, friends, churches, ministries, mentors, counselors, creators, communities, resources.
THE BODY IS ALREADY THERE.
TOO OFTEN, THE LIFELINE ISN’T WITHIN REACH.
The question isn’t whether the field exists.
It’s whether we’ll enter it.
There is a better way.

Search & Rescue for the digital age.
SEEK THE ONE
Get a lifeline to people in the moments that matter.
SERVE THE NINETY-NINE
Help believers grow, withstand the Pull, and bear the light.
CONNECT THE BODY
Connect people to the Body where the Spirit is already at work.
God rescues. Shepherd serves.
Bear the light.
Gather. Heal. Form. Equip.
Go.
The goal isn’t merely to escape darkness. It’s to carry light into it.
Shepherd helps us notice, serve, and connect — people carry the mission.
